A $200,000 Clean School Bus grant provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency made it possible for the CCSD to clean up tailpipe emissions on 123 of it's buses. Closed crankcase systems and diesel oxidation catalysts have been installed as a result of the grant awarded to the Vehicle Maintenance section of the Transportation Department. This emissions reduction project combined with the Biodiesel program that CCSD has implemented for over seven years makes the CCSD bus fleet one of the cleanest in the country.
